Mr. Sun Medley | Traditional

Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun

Won’t you please shine down on me?

Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun,

Hiding behind those trees. These little children are asking you

To please come out so we can play with you.Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun,
Won’t you please shine down on, please shine down on,
Please shine down on me?

You Are My Sunshine | Jimmy Davis
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away!
Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sun Shine In | Stuart Hamblen

So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin,
Smilers never lose and frowners never win.
So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin,
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in.

Keep on the Sunny Side | A.P. Carter

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life.
It will help us every day, it will brighten up our way,
If we keep on the sunny side of life.

Bingo Schmingo the Song

There was a farm had a dog, Bingo was his name oh…
B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was his name, ohhhhhhh!

Well, the farmer not only had a dog named Bingo, but he had a bad memory.Every day he’d go out to have the dog bring him his newspaper but he couldn’t remember the dog’s name… so he’d try a different name every day…

Use the beginning letter of kids’ names…..

Smelly Feet

You have such smelly feet,
Such awfully smelly feet.
I take a whiff, I take a sniff,
and I simply must repeat:
Your feet they really stink,
Please put them in the sink.
My golly, my gosh, I wish you would wash
Your smelly feet!

You have such yummy feet,
They really are so sweet,
I take a bite most every night
And I simply must repeat
Your feet smell like a rose,
Please put them in my nose
My dolly, my dear, it’s perfectly clear,
That you’ve washed your feet!

Little Bunny Foo Foo

Little bunny Foo Foo hopping through the forest,
Scooping up the field mice and boppin’ ‘em on the head.
Down came the good fairy, and she said,
“Little Bunny Foo Foo, I don’t like your attitude,
Scoopin’ up the field mice and boppin’ ‘em on the head.
I will give you 3 chances to be good, and if you’re not,
I’ll turn you into a GOOOON!

So, the next day…..
I will give you 2  more chances to be good, and if you’re not,
I’ll turn you into a GOOOON!

So, the next

Down came the good fairy, and she said,
“Little Bunny Foo Foo, I don’t like your attitude,
Scoopin’ up the field mice and boppin’ ‘em on the head.
I will give you 1  more chance to be good, and if you’re not,
I’ll turn you into a GOOOON!

So, the next day…..
Little bunny Foo Foo hopping through the forest,

Down came the good fairy, and she
“Little Bunny Foo Foo, I don’t like your attitude,
Scoopin’ up the field mice and boppin’ ‘em on the head.
I gave you 3 chances to be good, and you BLEW it,
So now I’m going to  turn you into a GOOOON!
SO SHE DID!

The Garbage Truck Serenade | Kathleen Rushing

Tuesdays the Garbage truck comes through town
Rolling down the street, making its garbage rounds,
Trash cans packed full, waiting at the curb
Little faces at the window, this is what is heard,

**The garbage truck, the garbage truck,
It’s coming down the street
The garbage truck, the garbage
It smells like dirty feet!
Rotten, nasty, dirty, the stuff we like the
When the garbage stops here it’s a stinky smelly fest

It stops at our house and down comes the arm
Grabbing our trash can, how the flies around it swarm
Up into the air, chug a lug goes the trash,
Back down comes our trash can with a bang a crash.

The garbage is gone, down the street it goes
To a place called the dumps, where you have to hold your nose
We’ll fill the can once more, the rest of this week,
And again by next Tuesday, our can it will wreak!

**The garbage truck, the garbage
It’s coming down the steer
The garbage truck, the garbage
It smells like dirty dirty feet!
Rotten, nasty, dirty, the stuff we like the best
When the garbage truck  stops here it’s a stinky smelly
When the garbage trucks stops here we are truly, truly blessed!

Hammock in the Shade | Kathleen Rushing

On a hammock in the shade Sat dear Grammy one day
Swinging with 2 little grand kids,
Along came a bug, Into Grammy’s hair it dug
And this is what dear Grammy did say,

“Well, excuse me you pair, but there’s something in my hair,
It’s given me quite a scare.
But from this hammock we’d fall out,
So I guess I just won’t care!”

On a hammock in the shade, In Grammy’s hair the bug did stay,
Building a home and family.
When those bug eggs did hatch, it was really quite a batch,
And this is what dear Grammy did say,

“Well, excuse me you pair, but there’s something in my hair,
It’s giving me quite a scare.
I would scream and shake and shout,
But from this hammock we’d fall out,
So I guess I just won’t care!”

The Pirate Song | Traditional

When I was one I sucked my thumb, on the day I went to sea,
I jumped aboard a pirate ship, and the captain said to me,
Now you go this way, and that way,
Over the deep blue sea.
This way, and that way, over the deep blue sea.

When I was two, I tied my shoe
When I was three, I climbed a tree
When I was four, I shut the door,
When I was five, sakes alive!
When I was six, I picked up sticks
When I was seven I went to heaven
When I was eight, I closed the gate
When I was nine, I got in line
When I was ten, I saw some men

OR make up your own, better yet, have the kids make them up!

Frosty the Snowman | W. Rollins/Steve Nelson

Frosty the snowman, was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose,
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman was a fairy tale they say,
He was made of snow and the children know how he came to life one day
There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around!
Frosty the snowman, was alive as he could be, and the children say
He could laugh and play, just the same as you and me

Thumpity, thump, thump,
Thumpity, thump, thump
Look at Frosty go,
Thumpity, thump, thump,
Thumpity, thump, thump, over the hills of snow!

Frosty the snowman knew the sun was hot that day
So he said let's run and we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away!
Down through the village, with a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there, all around the square,
Saying "Catch me if you can!"
He led them down the streets of town right to a traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when he heard him holler, "STOP!"
Frosty the snowman, had to hurry on his way,
So he waved good-bye, saying, "Don't you cry, I'll be back again some day!"

Thumpity, thump, thump,
Thumpity, thump, thump
Look at Frosty go,
Thumpity, thump, thump,
Thumpity, thump, thump, over the hills of snow!

A spider on my toe, on my toe!

I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Deep down in my heart, I'm gonna let it shine 3x
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine 3x
Let it shine, all the time, let it shine

This little light of mine…….

Potatoes are Under the Ground | MaryLee Sunseri

There's an Irish rainbow above the green mountains
And a little white house by the sea,
And shamrocks are growin' where the rivers are growing
And potatoes grow under the ground, the ground, and potatoes grow under the ground

There's an Irish rainbow above the green mountains,
and a road leading off to the sea
There's a horse to ride, and a dog by my side
And potatoes grow under the ground, the ground, and potatoes grow under the ground

There's an Irish rainbow above the green mountainS
And a sweet Irish harp calling me
The bagpipes and fiddles play diddle aye diddle
And potatoes grow under the ground, the ground, and potatoes grow under the ground

There's an Irish rainbow above the green mountains
And a leprechaun as tall as my knee
Remember the ground where the pot of gold is found,
And potatoes grow under the ground, the ground, and potatoes grow under the ground

Too ra loo ra loo ra, too ra loo ra la,
Too ra loo ra loo ra, hush now don't you cry
Too ra loo ra loo ra, too ra loo ra ly
Too ra loo ra loo ra, that's an Irish lullaby…

Ravioli

Raviolis, I like Raviolis!  Have I got it on my head?
Yes, you've got it on your head!
ON MY HEAD??
ON YOUR HEAD!!
Raviiolis, I like Raviolis, it's the best for me!

Andy has an ape on his head, Andy has an ape on his head and he likes to feed it apples
Bailey has a baboon on his head, and he likes to feed it bananas…

and so on with each letter of the alphabet, using someone's name, same first letter.

I See the Moon - Lyrics

Big Rock Candy Mountain | Harry McClintock (additional lyrics ?)

Tell you about a land I know, not so far from here..
And every time you blink your eyes, the strangest things appear…..

Oh, the buzzin' of the bees in the bubble gum trees,
The soda water fountain
The lemonade streams and the bluebirds sing,
On the Big Rock Candy Mountain

Oh, the Big Rock Candy Mountain
Is the perfect place for kids,
Your allowance grows on bushes,
And the cookie jars don't have lids.
You can have your choice of any pet
in the Big Rock Candy Zoo,
There's a root beer lake you can dive into,
You can paddle all around it in a big canoe,
On the Big Rock Candy Mountain

Oh, the buzzin' of the bees in the bubble gum trees,
The soda water fountain,
The lemonade springs where the bluebirds sing,
On the Big Rock Candy Moutain

On the Big Rock Candy Mountain,
You never change your socks,
And little streams of apple juice come
Come a bubblin' down the rocks
There's no such thing as home,
It's your birthday all the time
You can stay up late and your folks don't care,
You can come to school in your underwear!

Oh, the buzzin' of the bees

I See the Moon | Traditional lyrics

I see the moon and the moon sees me,
Down through the leaves of the old oak tree,
God bless the moon and God bless me,
God bless the ones I love.

Over the mountains and over the see,
Back where my heart is longing to be,
I know the light that shines on me,
Shines on the ones I love.

I see the stars and the stars see me,
Down through the leaves of the old oak tree
God bless the stars and God bless me,
God bless my Grammy too

Over the mountains and over the see,
Back where my heart is longing to be,
I know the stars that shine on me,
Shine on my Grandpa too.

I hear the lark and it calls to me,
Singing a song with a memory,
Please take the song it sings to me,
Back to the ones I love.

Over the mountains and over the sea,
Back where my heart is longing to be,
Please take the song it sings to me,
Back to the ones I love.

I hear the rain and the rain hears me,
Down through the leaves of the old oak tree,
God Bless the rain and God bless me,
God bless my Mommy

Over the mountains and over the sea,
Back where my heart is longing to be,
I know the rain that drips on me,
Drips on my Daddy too.

I Wanna Be a Dog | Barry Louis Polizar

Oh, I wanna be a dog, I wanna wag my tail,
Chase cars and knock over garbage cans,
Bite the lady who brings you the mail.

Oh I wanna be a dog, I wanna dig big holes,
I wanna sniff french poodles and bassett hounds,
And look for telephone polls,

Oh, I wanna have dog breath, I wanna learn how to growl,
Scratch fleas and ticks, run after sticks,
The moon will make me howl!

Oh, I wanna be a dog, I wanna lie around,
Being human these days is getting too crazy,
I just wanna be a hound!

Oh Susannah! | Stephen Foster

Oh I come from Alabama with the banjo on my knee,
I'm going to Louisiana my true love for to see
It rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry,
The sun so hot I froze to death, Susannah don't you cry!

Oh Susannah, don't you cry for me,
Cause I come from Alabama with the banjo on my knee

I had a dream the other night when everything was still,
I dreamed I saw Susannah, she was comin' down the hill,
The buckwheat cakes were in her mouth, a tear was in her eye,
Says I, "I'm coming from the south, Susannah don't you cry!"

Oh Susannah……

Soon I'll be in New Orleans and then I'll look around,
And when I find Susannah, I'll fall upon the ground,
And if I do not find her, then I will surely cry,
And when I'm sad and lonely, Susannah don't you cry.

The Cat Came Back! | Traditional

Old man Johnson had troubles of his own,
He had a yellow cat that wouldn't leave his home.
He tried and tried to give that cat away,
He gave it to a man going far, far away…. but,

Chorus:    But The cat came back, the very next day, the Cat came back, they thought he was a goner, but the cat came back, he just wouldn't stay away, away, away, away…..

He gave it to a man going up in a balloon,
Told him for to take it to the man in the moon,
The balloon came down about a hundred miles away,
Where the man is now I cannot say… but…. chorus

Well, he put it in a cotton sack and gave it to a girl,
She was traveling on a bicycle all around the world,
Well, over ther in China a terrible wreck was found,
She's singing now in heaven with the angels all around… But…. chorus

He finally found a way for the cat to really fix,
He put in a orange craate on Highway 66
Come a 10 ton truck with a 20 ton load,
Scattered pieces of that orange crate all down the road… but… chorus

He put it on a boat bound for Seattle town,
He thought with all that rain the cat would surely drown,
The rain came down for the 42nd day,
The whole wet city just floated all away… but… chorus

Took him to Cape Canaveral and he put him into place,
He put him in a rocketship bound for outer space,
Just when he thought he was beyond human reach,
Then he got a call from Miami Beach!  But….. chorus

He took him to San Francisco one fine summer day
Put him on a cable car headed for the bay,
At the bottom of the hill, the car jumped the rail,
Went right into the bay like a great big whatle!  But….. chorus

So Long, My Friend | Bill Harley version (My Mom)

I'm getting up in the morning, I'm headed for a new town today,
I'm going to Africa, 'cause that's where the elephants play!

So long, my friends, I'm sorry but I cannot stay,
I've got a heavy load and it's a long road, and you've got to be on your way!

I'm getting up in the morning, headin' for a new town today,
I'm going to Africa, 'cause that's where the elephants play,
And it's so long, my friends, I'm sorry that I cannot stay,
I've got a heavy load, and it's a long road, and I've got to be on my way

Sleeping Bunnies | Traditional

See the little bunnies sleeping till it's almost noon,
Come and let us wake them with a merry tune…
Oh how still, are they ill, wake up soon…
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop,
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop  4x

See the little birdies sleeping till it's almost 9
Come and let us wake them, in their nests of vine,
Up we climb, just in time, wake up soon…
Flap little birdies, flap, flap, flap  4x

See the little alligators sleeping till it's noon
Come and let us wake them with a merry tune
In we creep, while they sleep, wake up soon!
